Molly Knott's Bio

Molly is a lifelong rider and horsewoman who has pursued a career in academic research, while always keeping one boot firmly planted in the barn aisle. Currently, she blends these two loves as the founder and editor of Dappled Grey, an online guide to the best of English equestrian style and culture.

Originally from San Francisco and now located in Portland, Oregon, Molly misses the cultural chaos of the Bay Area but enjoys the community-mindedness of Portland and the opportunity to live close to her family. Along with partner Jeff and Superdog Elka, she spends as much time as possible with her horse Fitch. She also enjoys growing a backyard vegetable garden  and exploring Oregon's magnificent wild places.

Prior to founding Dappled Grey, Molly was a faculty member at the Oregon State University College of Education, focusing on program and research development. Her research project, Innovation in Oregon High Schools, was sponsored by the Bill and Melina Gates Foundation to explore policies that support innovative teaching and learning. Molly holds a MA in Educational Policy Analysis and Evaluation from the Stanford University School of Education.

Most inspiring quotation:

"The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love, and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide if he is working or playing. To him, he is always doing both."
