I just stumbled upon my first look at the MetroFi WiFi network currently launching in Portland OR. I am running iStumbler and sitting in the Governor Hotel at Alder and SW 11th Ave.
At least on my Mac I cant seem to connect to the Free or Premium service yet - using either the OS X connection tool or iStumbler's 'join' function. Anyone else connected to this service yet?
I am sitting once again around 11th and Alder, in the Governor Hotel and clicking around looking at the Metro Fi Municipal WiFi launch underway in Portland. This time I see MetroFi-Free and MetroFi-Premium networks. I was only able to connect to Free one time, and when I did I got only a blank page at www.google.com, and my browser reported 'done' in the status bar. After that, any attempt to connect to the 'free' network didnt work.
When I connect to the 'premium' network, I get a login screen.

As you can see from the screen shot above, there are no shortage of WiFi networks around this particular corner, which I would imagine is the case all around downtown.

There is also a network available called "SkyPilotDualBand" which coincidentally is the name of the type of WAP MetroFi is mounting on the traffic light poles around town.
When I try to connect to it, get a WEP login.
